Strategic Meetings Management – Important to both supplier and planners!

The idea of centralizing and controlling meeting and event spend has been around for many years now, and is commonly referred to as Strategic Meetings Management or “SMM”. SMM started out simply enough with meeting managers trying to reduce meeting expenses and mitigate the risk of poorly negotiated contracts. Throughout the progression of SMM, travel and procurement managers have gotten involved in this previously unfamiliar domain of meetings management.  Similarly, suppliers are also dealing with somewhat new territory with different models of selling, ever increasing eRFP volume and the perceived commoditization of services.

In this interactive session, Betsy will provide real life examples of how suppliers and buyers can leverage their strengths in order to support each other in achieving their SMM goals. Our discussion will also include topics on the importance of become a trusted advisor to your client ad how to become successful in the new ecosystem of the “partnership matrix”. Please come prepared to share your experiences, so that we can all learn from each other – what to do, as well as pitfalls to avoid!
