ANNUAL GOVERNMENT RELATIONS UPDATE

Speaker: Brian Roth, United Airlines

Brian attends the Legislative Summit in Washington and has a lot of valuable information about actions affecting travel and how we can stay informed and be involved.

Brian is a Regional Director of Sales for United, leading a team responsible for about $800 Million in airline passenger sales in the Western US.  He has been with United since 1997 in a variety of Sales, Analytical and Management roles.  He has worked across the Western United States covering channels from corporate travel to specialty sales to travel management companies.

We have been very fortunate to have him on our board!

One recent action that the local Chapter and GBTA were involved with regarding TSA fees was rejected. We have a voice and it was heard. Results below.

• After the Summit, Congress was negotiating a Budget Deal

• Included in the bill was an increase to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) aviation passenger security (9/11) fee from $5.60 to $6.60 in FY2020, and from $6.60 to $8.25 starting in FY2021.

• This is the same security fee that currently sees $.60 diverted away from security to general deficit.
• The Increase cost passengers over $22.00 billion between 2020-2029

• GBTA met with and sent letters to key legislators and said NO to increase
